Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager / Principal to lead and manage a premier maritime education and training institution.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving institutional growth, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining academic excellence, and strengthening industry partnerships while aligning operations with international maritime standards.

The successful candidate will provide strategic, commercial, and operational leadership to position the institution as a leading maritime training provider.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to define and execute the institutions long-term strategy.

• Drive sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

• Oversee institutional development initiatives and resource allocation.

Financial & Commercial Oversight

• Manage budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives.

• Identify new revenue streams, programmes, and strategic partnerships.

• Ensure disciplined capital deployment while maintaining operational quality.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner / Chief Engineer / Class II (Deck or Engine) Certificate of Competency holder.

• Bachelors Degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.

• Postgraduate qualification in Management, Maritime Studies, or Business Administration will be an advantage.

Skills & Experience Required

• Extensive senior leadership experience within maritime education, training, or related maritime sectors.

• Strong understanding of STCW, maritime regulatory frameworks, and accreditation processes.

• Proven commercial leadership capability with strong P&L management experience.

• Demonstrated ability to engage with regulators, industry stakeholders, and governing boards.

• Strong track record in institutional growth, programme development, and operational leadership.
