Role Overview

The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for leading analytics delivery, mentoring junior team members, and driving the design and implementation of advanced data science solutions. The role combines deep technical expertise, leadership, and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver scalable, high-impact analytics solutions across telecom, banking, and manufacturing domains.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Delivery & Project Execution

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data science projects, ensuring quality standards and on-time execution

  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously and manage priorities effectively

  • Lead model testing, UAT, and go-live activities in collaboration with stakeholders

  • Act as a subject matter expert in applying analytics solutions across telecom, banking, and manufacturing domains

  • Design and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning approaches

  • Oversee feature engineering, model training, validation, deployment, and lifecycle management

  • Ensure best practices in reproducibility, model explainability, fairness, and governance

  • Promote and implement MLOps practices for model monitoring, scaling, and automation

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead, mentor, and groom junior data scientists through technical guidance, feedback, and knowledge sharing

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation within the data science team

Innovation & Knowledge Building

  • Research, experiment with, and implement emerging AI/ML techniques to solve complex problems

  • Contribute to organizational intellectual property by documenting solutions, creating reusable frameworks, and publishing best practices

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data science

  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role

  • Proven track record of delivering end-to-end machine learning projects

  • Experience delivering analytics solutions in telecom, banking, or manufacturing domains

  • Strong experience in client-facing roles and translating business requirements into analytical solutions

  • At least one intermediate or advanced certification in data science, machine learning, or AI

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Python (preferred), R, and SQL

  • Hands-on experience with libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, Plotly

  • Strong expertise in Bayesian statistics, advanced regression techniques, supervised and unsupervised learning, time-series forecasting, and NLP

  • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, and Hadoop

  • Strong exposure to cloud ecosystems including AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • Proficiency in data visualization and storytelling using Power BI, Tableau, or Python visualization libraries

  • Understanding of MLOps practices, including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and model monitoring

Managerial & Leadership Skills

  • Strong ability to manage and mentor data science teams to deliver high-quality outputs

  • Ability to work across diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholder priorities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior leadership

  • Experience in project planning, effort estimation, and risk management
