WE ARE HIRING: AML/CFT Officer - Legal and Policy Division

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend to policy matters of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) including meetings on relevant legislation, regulations, rules, and guidelines.
• Prepare legal documents for court use, including freeze orders, cause lists, and submissions to the High Court.
• Liaise with the Attorney Generals Department and other relevant agencies for legal matters.
• Maintain all legal files related to suspension, extension, and database updates for suspended cases.
• Manage legal work related to issuance of regulations, rules, and guidelines for Financial Institutions (FIs) and Designated Non-Finance Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs).
• Provide clarifications, review warnings, and prepare letters pertaining to FIs and DNFBPs.
• Coordinate and implement the National AML/CFT Policy and participate in Mutual Evaluation processes.
• Assist in workshops, seminars, and awareness programs for reporting institutions.
• Draft and prepare concept papers and other policy documents.
• Respond to requests under the Right to Information (RTI) Act and coordinate with domestic agencies for MoUs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, or Business Administration with a minimum of Second Class (Upper Division) or GPA/WAM equivalent to 75% from a recognized university.
• Preferably enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of post-qualifying legal experience in a law firm or relevant regulatory/supervisory, finance, auditing, or risk management/compliance roles in reputed institutions.
• Experience in regulated sectors such as banking, finance, auditing, risk management, cyber security, or information technology preferred.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Proficiency in both Sinhala/Tamil and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured reports and documents.
• Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
