Role Overview 

We are seeking a technically strong and project-oriented Projects Engineer to support engineering projects related to machinery relocation, plant improvements, utility modifications, capacity expansion, and operational excellence initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering engineering projects while ensuring safety, quality, operational continuity, and compliance with engineering standards. This role requires strong project execution capabilities, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholder groups.  

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for machine relocations, utility modifications, and engineering improvement projects.
• Identify technically viable solutions considering cost, schedule, safety, operational requirements, and risk factors.
• Plan and execute machinery relocation projects, including dismantling, transportation, installation, alignment, commissioning, and performance verification.
• Ensure project execution minimizes disruption to ongoing production operations.
• Perform technical integration studies and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure compatibility and operational effectiveness.
• Manage engineering changes relating to machinery, layouts, utility systems, and infrastructure in accordance with established engineering change procedures.
• Develop detailed project schedules, execution plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Ensure engineering projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.
• Apply engineering quality processes including design reviews, risk assessments, validation activities, and non-conformity management.
• Lead installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for machinery and utility systems.
• Verify performance, reliability, safety, and operational compliance of installed systems and equipment.
• Provide technical support for plant development, capacity expansion, operational improvement, and modernization projects.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, layouts, technical reports, project documentation, and As-Built records.
• Coordinate utility shutdowns, startups, contractor activities, and project communications.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, utility efficiency, operational performance, and cost effectiveness.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, presentations, and project deliverables for management review and decision-making.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives through engineering-based solutions and innovation.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, including exposure to industrial project management and engineering project execution.
• Experience managing engineering projects within manufacturing, industrial, process, or production environments will be highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of machinery installation, commissioning, utilities, engineering design, and project execution methodologies.
• Understanding of risk management, engineering validation, quality control, and change management processes.
• Hands-on experience using Microsoft Project (MS Project).
• Strong project planning, scheduling, coordination, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong technical reporting and documentation abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Sinhala.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Professional qualification in Project Management will be considered an added advantage.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
