Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and reliable Accountant / Assistant Accountant to support accounting, costing, financial reporting, reconciliations, taxation, payroll, inventory, and finance operations within a manufacturing environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting product costing and Bills of Materials, preparing management and financial accounts, managing ledgers and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end product costing for manufacturing operations.
• Maintain accurate Bills of Materials and costing records.
• Perform monthly variance analysis on raw materials, labour, and factory overheads.
• Prepare management accounts and financial accounts.
• Support financial reporting activities and management decision-making.
• Maintain general ledger records accurately and on time.
• Prepare journal entries, ledger postings, and supporting accounting schedules.
• Handle bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, customer reconciliations, and other finance reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Process supplier payments, customer receipts, invoices, and related documentation.
• Support tax and compliance-related activities.
• Maintain records required for statutory, audit, and regulatory purposes.
• Support inventory management and inventory-related accounting activities.
• Analyze financial, costing, inventory, and operational data.
• Coordinate with banks and regulatory authorities when required.
• Support payroll processing and related documentation.
• Maintain accurate accounting files, records, reports, and supporting documents.
• Use accounting software and Microsoft Excel to prepare reports and maintain financial data.
• Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and ethical handling of financial information.
• Work independently under pressure while meeting reporting and operational deadlines.
• Support senior management and internal teams with finance-related information when required.
• Perform any other accounting, costing, finance, payroll, or reporting duties assigned by management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Member or passed finalist of ICASL or CIMA.
• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Prior accounting experience in a manufacturing environment will be preferred.
• Strong knowledge of product costing, Bills of Materials, variance analysis, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
• Good understanding of general ledger functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as TALLY Manufacturing Module, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or SAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential data ethically and professionally.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• Strong team player with good coordination skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala.
