Role Overview

We are looking for a Head of Technology to provide strategic and executive leadership across group-wide technology functions and subsidiary platforms. This role is responsible for defining and executing the overall technology strategy, driving digital transformation, enhancing customer experience, and identifying technology-driven revenue opportunities, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards in a highly regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Define and execute the overall technology strategy and roadmap across the group and subsidiary companies, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives.

  • Act as the senior technology leader, driving digital transformation initiatives, improving customer experience, and identifying technology-led revenue opportunities.

  • Establish and lead a Center of Excellence for Financial Technology Innovation, fostering experimentation and continuous improvement.

  • Promote an innovation-driven environment through adoption of modern technologies, cloud platforms, and industry best practices to maintain technological leadership.

Technical & Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the full system development lifecycle to ensure secure, timely, and scalable delivery of high-quality technology solutions across all business units.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to senior technology leaders across digital payments, digital banking, wallet services, remittances, and other strategic business units.

  • Collaborate with subsidiary leadership teams to ensure technology operations are fully integrated and aligned with group strategy.

  • Ensure full compliance with security and regulatory standards, including CBSL guidelines, PCI-DSS, and applicable data protection and privacy regulations.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop technology teams, promoting technical excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure all technology projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, with strong focus on quality and efficiency.

  • Introduce and implement AI technologies to enhance development speed, code quality, and application security where applicable.

  • Oversee staff training and development to maintain high standards of professionalism, technical competency, and customer readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Masters degree will be preferred.

Professional Certifications

  • Certifications in cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, project management, or FinTech will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in technology leadership roles, including 5–7 years at a senior or executive level.

  • Proven experience within FinTech, digital payments, banking, or other regulated financial services environments.

Technical & Leadership Competencies

  • Strong expertise in digital payments platforms, wallets, remittances, digital banking, and financial integrations.

  • In-depth knowledge of CBSL regulations, PCI-DSS, data protection laws, cybersecurity, and risk management frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable enterprise systems.

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives and implementing AI/ML-driven solutions.

  • Strong leadership capability with experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills with a strong passion for FinTech innovation.
