WE ARE HIRING: Monitoring Specialist
- Location: Colombo
- Working days: Working time - 9.00 -5.30 pm
- Type of work: Hybrid
Core Responsibilities
- Works closely with the business and other delivery practices to establish
- requirements for monitoring of systems across the various business divisions.
- Focusing on how to fully cover applications and their environment cost-effectively, whilst enabling the identification of issues before they are known to the end users
- Works very closely with the Application Development teams to troubleshoot and
- Resolve performance issues within the applications, including validating in non-production environments.
- Works closely with infrastructure and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve
- performance issues within the infrastructure elements.
- Works closely with the business to identify key user actions and metrics (KPIs) that
- provide value when analysed, visualised, and alerted on.
- Takes part in reviews of their work.
- Provides advice, guidance, and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required,
- as well as listening to and learning from those with different experiences.
- Works with Application teams to investigate, establish the root cause, and remediate
- operational incidents.
- Investigates operational needs and problems, contributing to the recommendation of
- improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed
- processes and organisation.
- Support and advise on application performance during the onboarding of
- applications as part of the mergers and acquisitions process.
- Actively seeks to keep up to date with the latest industry and technical
- developments/trends and can discuss and explain them to colleagues. Prepared to
- engage and showcase observability benefits and use cases.
Key Skills and Experience
- A good understanding of application environments, coupled with knowledge of application performance.
- An understanding of the IT industry and the implications of new technologies and processes for the wider business environment. Experience in a current Application Performance Monitoring platform, such as Dynatrace (preferred).
- New Relic, Application Dynamics, Datadog, and Zabbix are highly desirable.
Knowledge and experience of some of the following:
Technical skills:
- Desktop and Web applications
- Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)
- Application and Infrastructure Architecture
- Understanding of application and infrastructure performance tuning
- Data visualisation and reporting techniques
- Scripting and automation
- Database/store technologies, e.g., SQL, NoSQL
- Insurance/Finance experience would be good, but not essential
- Understanding of observability principles and practices within an organisation.
Soft skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborating with development and operations teams to improve the system's reliability and stability.
- Effectively managing own workload and time to prioritise tasks across multiple
- responsibilities.
