Team Lead - Accounts Production Opportunity

Position Details:

The key purpose of this role is to oversee the work of more junior accountants and bookkeepers and address inadequacies through training and systems improvement. You must be a strong technical accountant able to deliver work on time. This position is key to improving how we engage with our work and our clients. The focus of the role is to oversee bookkeeping and financial reporting that happens daily, weekly, and monthly. 

The role involves:

• Building good processes internally in all areas of accounts production
• Responsible for delivery of all management financial reporting for all clients.
• Supporting new clients with onboarding and training.
• Point of escalation for junior accounts production team members.
• Quality control, process improvement, implementing checks and controls.
• Review the preparation of tax returns and financial reporting for accuracy and completeness
• Preparation of year-end accounts and tax returns
• Handling bookkeeping for select Tier 1 clients, for periods when the team has capacity needs, or for new clients during the onboarding phase before transitioning the work to Account Associates.

Communication skills

• Team Lead works closely with Client Managers to make sure client work is delivered as agreed. We aim to exceed client expectations.
• Build deep meaningful relationships with other team members and client managers. We are not just a compliance service delivery for our clients. Our clients rely on us. We need to understand their accounts deeply and identify suggestions to improve their business performance
• Write professional email, easily understandable, polite, jargon-free emails to clients requesting documentation.
• Conduct online zoom calls professionally. This means attending calls from a well-lit room with good audio and visual capabilities on time, every time.
• Be available to respond to teammates' requests before COB daily.

Processes and quality control

• Review work processes for 1% improvements. Kaizen mindset.
• Understand client service agreements and make sure we a delivering as promised
• Understand allocated time per client job and manage the delivery of work within that budget
• Ensure people are working on the right thing at the right time.

Experience

• 3-5years of accounting practice experience ideally working in BPO environment
• ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA/ATI qualified (Part-Qualified with experience).
• Undergraduate degree in accounting, commerce (preferred)
• Experience preparing monthly management reports
• Experience preparing all the usual tax returns (payroll, VAT, corporation tax)
• Experience in Xero or comparable bookkeeping software (Quickbooks, Surf, Sage Online)
• Other systems include Dear Inventory, Dext, Brightpay, Fathom HQ/Syft, other Xero marketplace plug-ins, Amazon marketplace, Shopify/WooCommerce, Google Office.
• Prior experience in managing a team is a requirement
