Requirements:
- Ideally qualified as a Certified Scrum Master
- Likely to have a technical / software development background and have demonstrable experience of leading development teams of varying experience
- Builds strong strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders (business and technical) demonstrating an understanding of the business aims and issues.
- Has a proven record in the full range of management and leadership skills, consistently delivering great business outcomes.
- Good track record in delivery of projects / business solutions taking personal ownership for success and failure
- Excellent Communication skills; Understands, explains and presents complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels and in different locations
- Has a good understanding of the IT industry and the implications of emerging technologies and processes for the wider business environment.
- The ability to manage a team successfully; resolving issues, encouraging full participation, promoting good morale, sharing credit for success, supporting staff and developing the team.
- Able to delegate and direct the work of others.
- Considers wider implications of the work of the team, promotes re-use, knowledge sharing, wider strategy and the long-term benefits as well as immediate need.
- Proven planning skills, able to understand estimates, task interdependencies and staff availability to create a workable sprint strategy.
- Familiarity with project management tooling such as Jira, AzureDevOps, etc.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, organization, self-motivation and a desire for self-improvement.
- Diplomatic and a willingness to engage with others and listen and adopt views and ideas from a wide-range of sources.
- Has experience of managing third parties in order to maximize the value of the relationships.
Education / Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required with emphasis in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems Management.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Work very closely with the Product Owners to ensure delivery against the Roadmap. They will guide this work in the context of strategic business aims, as well as the regulatory and compliance obligations. Regular liaison with key business stakeholders as well as the Product Owner is essential to ensure that delivered functionality is appropriate to business need. Focusing on how to deliver value, reduce risk or improve efficiency for the organization as a whole.
- Take responsibility for delivery of all stages in the Agile software development process and for management of Development, Test and Release specialists.
- Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the team managing all development activity and removing impediments. This will include eliminating key person risks by cross training staff and ensuring all systems, processes and controls are well documented. It will also include tuning the teams, ways of working and tooling as required to ensure efficient and effective delivery for the business.
- Have overall responsibility for the quality of the work delivered by the development team and provide advice, assistance and leadership in improving the quality of software support by working closely with the Practice leads, business, other IT teams as necessary.
- Monitor performance delivery targets (velocity and efficiency) for all supported systems, providing regular updates to the Product Owners and IT Directors, as well as other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to keep both the teams skills up to date by working closely with capability leads via a matrix management structure. Similarly, bring about significant improvements and measurable business benefits by identifying, proposing, initiating and leading enhancement of existing approaches and processes.
- Take part in selection interviews for team members as required and contribute towards a succession plan and skills matrix for the team, supporting the development and career progression of those in the team.
- Supports the Development Practice by promoting the standards across all teams and leading in areas such as agility, security, team health checks, recruitment and Practice member learning (Lunch and Learns, etc.)
- Provides advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required as well as listening to and learning from those with different experience.
- Works to avoid and remove technical debt and be directly involved in building up technical backlogs to further improve and future-proof systems.
- Works with Application Support Analysts to Investigate, establish root cause and remediate operational incidents.
- Investigates operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and organization.
- Actively seeks to keep up to date with latest industry and technical developments/trends and discuss or debate these with colleagues from the various practices
