Position: Credit Officer
JOB ROLE
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A Masters degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in credit risk management, underwriting, or related roles, preferably within [industry, e.g., banking, finance, or commercial lending].
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk management principles.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and credit risk assessment software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-experts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of credit regulations, industry standards, and risk management frameworks.
- Familiarity with financial products and credit documentation, including loans, lines of credit, and trade finance.
- Personal Attributes:
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Credit Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate creditworthiness of clients by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
- Assess the potential for credit risk and determine the appropriate credit limits and terms.
- Make informed recommendations for approvals or denials based on analysis.
- Credit Underwriting:
- Review and approve loan applications within the set credit policy.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulations, and legal requirements.
- Structure credit facilities to meet customer needs while mitigating risk.
- Portfolio Management:
- Monitor the performance of the credit portfolio, ensuring loans are repaid on time and according to terms.
- Identify early warning signals for potential default and take necessary actions (e.g., restructures, collections, or enforcement).
- Prepare regular reports on the credit portfolio for senior management.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build strong relationships with clients to understand their financial needs and offer tailored solutions.
- Serve as a point of contact for credit-related inquiries and support to clients.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with sales, relationship managers, and other departments to align credit decisions with overall business strategy.
- Ensure that credit approvals are communicated clearly and promptly.
- Compliance and Risk Control:
- Ensure that all credit processes are compliant with regulatory standards, internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating risks related to lending activities.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of credit decisions, loan agreements, and collateral documentation.
- Prepare and present credit reports and analysis to senior management.
