WE ARE HIRING : Investigation Officer

Key Accountabilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Investigation Officer to support investigations related to suspicious pyramid schemes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting fact-finding inquiries, carrying out detailed investigations, and preparing comprehensive reports to support legal proceedings and regulatory enforcement. This role demands strong investigative, legal, and analytical skills, along with the ability to liaise with government authorities and represent the organization in court.

Investigations & Reporting

  • Conduct Fact-Finding Inquiries (FFI) based on complaints and available information.
  • Prepare and submit FFI reports within the stipulated timelines.
  • Conduct detailed investigations, including evidence gathering, site visits, and statement recording.
  • Compile findings into well-structured Investigation Reports for further action.
  • Provide additional support for prosecutions and follow-up investigations.

Legal & Regulatory Liaison

  • Coordinate with the Attorney Generals Department and the Criminal Investigation Department.
  • Assist with clarifications and correspondence requested by legal authorities.
  • Appear in court on behalf of CBSL, presenting observations and evidence.

Public Engagement & Awareness

  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from external parties regarding suspicious pyramid schemes.
  • Conduct public awareness campaigns on prohibited pyramid schemes to educate stakeholders.
  • Data Management & Compliance
  • Maintain and update databases related to complaints and investigations.
  • Support preparation of Management Information Systems (MIS) reports.
  • Carry out additional investigation-related tasks assigned by the Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Law, IT, Management, or any discipline recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka; OR
  • Professional qualifications such as Attorney-at-Law (AAL), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in Law, IT, regulatory/supervisory, finance, auditing, or compliance; OR
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in investigation/auditing, preferably in the Sri Lanka Police or Army, with at least 6 passes at G.C.E. (O/L) including 3 credit passes.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Sinhala and English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent report writing, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage sensitive information.
