Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven and strategic General Manager – Sales to lead the complete sales function across commercial kitchen, laundry, and coldroom solutions for the HORECA, healthcare, education, institutional, and foodservice sectors.

The selected candidate will be responsible for revenue growth, gross-profit performance, project acquisition, sales forecasting, market expansion, customer satisfaction, consultant engagement, and sales-team capability. The role requires strong leadership, technical solution-selling experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively with Projects, Pre-Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Category Management, and other business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy and Business Growth

  • Develop and execute sales strategies across commercial kitchen, laundry, and coldroom segments.
  • Drive revenue growth, project acquisition, market penetration, and profitability in Sri Lanka, Maldives, and assigned regional markets.
  • Develop category-based sales plans aligned with product, supplier, and gross-profit objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities within hotels, resorts, restaurants, hospitals, educational institutions, and commercial facilities.
  • Lead project-based B2B sales from opportunity identification and solution development through negotiation, closing, and handover.
  • Drive quotation conversion by maintaining a structured and disciplined sales pipeline.
  • Ensure client capital expenditure plans and operational requirements are understood before developing customized solutions.
  • Support pricing, commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and margin-protection strategies.

Pipeline, Forecasting and Commercial Management

  • Establish and maintain an accurate CRM-based sales pipeline across all business segments.
  • Own rolling sales forecasts and provide management with clear visibility of expected orders, revenue, collections, and project timelines.
  • Develop pricing models, sales reports, and commercial recommendations in collaboration with Finance.
  • Monitor sales performance, project conversion, margin achievement, customer engagement, and collection status.
  • Conduct regular sales reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement and margin optimization.
  • Ensure pricing remains competitive while maintaining commercial and profitability discipline.
  • Align sales forecasts with procurement, stock planning, logistics, and supplier lead times.

Project Delivery and Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Ensure a structured handover from Sales and Pre-Sales to Projects, Technical, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
  • Coordinate with project and pre-sales teams to monitor project deadlines, budgets, installation requirements, and client commitments.
  • Support the timely and complete delivery of projects in line with approved budgets and customer expectations.
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveying teams on BOQs, cost verification, and project gross-profit tracking.
  • Coordinate with Category Management on product selection, supplier strategy, and product-market fit.
  • Collaborate with Finance on pricing, margins, cash flow, credit control, and collection follow-up.
  • Work with Supply Chain to manage inventory, procurement, logistics, supplier commitments, and order fulfilment.

Client and Consultant Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hotel groups, restaurant chains, healthcare operators, consultants, and institutional clients.
  • Develop relationships with owners, general managers, chefs, engineers, procurement teams, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Engage local and international consultants to generate project referrals and secure product specification opportunities.
  • Conduct regular client reviews to identify future projects, replacement cycles, maintenance requirements, and expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure customer-service and satisfaction standards are consistently achieved.
  • Establish structured feedback mechanisms and take corrective action where service gaps are identified.

Market Expansion and Brand Positioning

  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, competitor pricing, and emerging sector opportunities.
  • Identify new markets and business opportunities across HORECA, healthcare, education, foodservice, and institutional segments.
  • Strengthen the organization's position as a leading provider of commercial kitchen, laundry, and coldroom solutions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on trade shows, digital campaigns, thought-leadership initiatives, and industry events.
  • Support regional expansion opportunities based on management direction.

Team Leadership and Capability Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Key Account Managers, Pre-Sales teams, sales administrators, and supporting team members.
  • Build a high-performing sales function with expertise across kitchen, laundry, and coldroom solutions.
  • Establish clear KPIs, performance standards, and accountability across the sales team.
  • Conduct structured performance reviews and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding to strengthen market and account coverage.
  • Develop training programs covering costing, pricing, negotiation, contract management, demand planning, and product knowledge.
  • Coordinate supplier-led brand and technical training sessions.
  • Establish mentorship and knowledge-transfer initiatives across the sales and pre-sales teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree or professional qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Engineering, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in B2B sales, project sales, key account management, or technical solution selling.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior sales leadership or general management role.
  • Experience in commercial kitchen equipment, laundry systems, coldrooms, refrigeration, HVAC, MEP, capital equipment, or HORECA project solutions will be strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead long-cycle project sales involving multiple stakeholders and technical requirements.
  • Strong track record in revenue growth, gross-profit management, project acquisition, and market expansion.
  • Experience managing hotel groups, resorts, consultants, contractors, institutional clients, or commercial projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margins, payment terms, collections, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience with CRM systems, sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
  • Strong understanding of project handover, BOQ development, procurement, inventory planning, and order fulfilment.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic-planning, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, Supply Chain, Projects, Technical, Pre-Sales, Category, and Marketing teams.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel to the Maldives, regional markets, and project locations when required.
  • Results-oriented, commercially focused, accountable, and capable of leading a high-performance sales organization.
