Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager Workshop Operations to lead and optimize workshop activities, manage technical teams, and drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient job completion, improve workshop performance, implement industry best practices, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all workshop operations including facilities, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and guide the technical team within the workshop.
  • Review daily job sheets to ensure jobs are completed on time, within cost, scope, and required quality standards.
  • Set benchmarks, targets, and Standard Repair Times (SRT) for jobs and repairs.
  • Monitor resource utilization and ensure effective allocation of manpower, tools, and materials.
  • Enhance workshop efficiency and productivity while minimizing absenteeism.
  • Proactively analyze and address operational issues.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with Training & Development for technical staff development.
  • Coordinate with parts and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts.
  • Ensure the care, maintenance, and management of diagnostic and special tools.
  • Implement and improve workshop flow processes per ISO and Cummins Standards.
  • Ensure workshop layout and workstation design support operational efficiency.
  • Manage the service pipeline and ensure seamless job scheduling and execution.
  • Maintain ISO compliance and related audit documentation.
  • Supervise workshop vehicles and equipment utilization.
  • Foster teamwork, motivation, and collaboration across all departments.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSc in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualification in Management / Business Administration is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in workshop operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines (Cummins experience is an added advantage).
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and guide technical teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
