Role Overview 

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior System Engineer to support the design, deployment, migration, management, and optimization of hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, virtualization platforms, server hardware, storage systems, and cloud services. This role requires a strong technical engineer who takes pride in automation, operational excellence, infrastructure reliability, and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients. You will work closely with internal technical teams, architects, stakeholders, and customer environments to ensure infrastructure platforms remain secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with business objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

Infrastructure Support & Management

  • Manage and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Certificate Services, and related infrastructure components.
  • Support on-premises infrastructure including servers, storage platforms, and enterprise hardware environments.
  • Manage SAN, NAS, and direct-attached storage solutions while maintaining storage connectivity and performance.
  • Perform infrastructure upgrades, patching, firmware updates, maintenance, and hardware refresh activities.
  • Configure server operating systems, features, services, and hardening standards.
  • Deliver infrastructure solutions aligned with approved technical designs and Statements of Work.

Virtualization & Hypervisor Platforms

  • Manage enterprise virtualization environments including VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
  • Configure clusters, virtual switches, datastores, high-availability configurations, and platform integrations.
  • Provision, deploy, and maintain virtual machines across multiple environments.
  • Perform P2V and V2V migrations while ensuring business continuity and operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize virtualization platforms and workloads.
  • Support integration with storage, backup, replication, and disaster recovery systems.

Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Manage Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Implement Identity and Access Management using Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Support hybrid identity solutions using Azure AD Connect and Cloud Sync.
  • Configure security and compliance controls including Conditional Access, Defender for Office 365, and Microsoft Purview.
  • Plan and deliver Microsoft 365 migration projects.
  • Provide post-migration support and user enablement activities.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

  • Deploy and manage Microsoft Azure environments aligned with Azure Landing Zone best practices.
  • Manage Azure resources using Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform, and Azure-native services.
  • Configure Azure networking components including Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, and Private Endpoints.
  • Manage subscriptions, management groups, policies, RBAC, governance controls, and tagging frameworks.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Support Azure cloud migrations, rehosting, modernization, and optimization initiatives.
  • Implement hybrid cloud solutions including ExpressRoute, Site-to-Site VPNs, and Azure Arc integrations.

Automation & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Build reusable Infrastructure-as-Code templates and deployment frameworks.
  • Produce technical documentation, configuration records, as-built documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Contribute to operational standards, deployment methodologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Promote repeatable, scalable, and consistent infrastructure delivery practices.

Team Contribution & Technical Leadership

  • Support and mentor junior engineers.
  • Share technical knowledge and contribute to the broader engineering practice.
  • Participate in planning activities and technical discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer environments and support business growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience building, deploying, supporting, and migrating infrastructure environments.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft server technologies.
  • Strong Microsoft Azure administration and deployment experience.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing Azure Landing Zones and cloud governance frameworks.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Entra ID.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or equivalent virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise server platforms including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco UCS, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with SAN, NAS, storage platforms, backup, replication, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
  • Additional Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 certifications will be highly regarded.
