Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager – Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs to lead government relations, regulatory engagement, and public policy initiatives across Sri Lanka. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping policy strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, monitoring regulatory developments, and advising leadership on legislative and regulatory matters impacting the business. This role requires strong experience in government relations, policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, and stakeholder engagement within a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement public policy and government relations strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Represent the organization in engagements with government agencies, regulators, elected officials, and law enforcement authorities.
- Advocate on matters relating to transportation regulations, licensing, digital economy initiatives, data privacy, tourism, and urban mobility.
- Monitor and analyze legislative developments, regulatory proposals, and policy changes that may impact business operations.
- Assess regulatory risks and opportunities and provide strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Prepare policy submissions, consultation responses, and formal representations to relevant authorities.
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Communications teams to ensure a unified policy approach.
- Coordinate with external consultants, industry bodies, trade associations, and advocacy groups on policy-related initiatives.
- Draft policy briefs, position papers, reports, presentations, and executive communication materials.
- Support the preparation of public statements and media-related policy communications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and key stakeholders.
- Organize stakeholder forums, workshops, roundtable discussions, and engagement initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
- An advanced degree will be an added advantage.
- 5–7 years of experience in Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, Government Relations, or related functions.
- Experience within the technology, transportation, logistics, mobility, or digital platform sectors will be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of Sri Lanka's policy-making processes and government institutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks relating to transportation, tourism, commerce, and data protection.
- Demonstrated success influencing policy outcomes and navigating complex regulatory environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex policy matters clearly and persuasively.
- Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, and negotiation capabilities.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to balance public policy objectives with commercial priorities.
- Knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil will be an added advantage.
- Experience dealing with legislative procedures and regulatory consultations will be preferred.
