Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Manager – Finance to lead and manage the overall finance function for country operations.
The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, accurate reporting, treasury management, taxation, budgeting, internal controls, audit coordination, cost management, financial risk management, and business partnering with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Leadership
- Lead and manage the overall finance operations of the country business.
- Ensure sound financial governance and stewardship across all business operations.
- Act as the key finance business partner to the Country Leadership Team, Board, Regional Finance, and Group Finance functions.
- Support country leadership in achieving financial, operational, and strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls and risk-management practices.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business growth, profitability improvement, and long-term financial stability.
- Lead, guide, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Drive accountability, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all finance activities.
Financial Reporting and Group Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare management accounts, balance sheet reviews, performance reports, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate reporting requirements with regional and group finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with group reporting standards, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Present financial results, risks, opportunities, and business insights to senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
- Improve the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of financial reporting processes.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Planning
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Partner with business leaders to prepare realistic financial plans.
- Monitor budget performance and highlight key variances.
- Provide recommendations to improve profitability, cost efficiency, and financial performance.
- Support strategic investment decisions through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
- Develop long-term financial plans aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare financial forecasts, performance projections, and business planning reports.
Cost Management and Profitability Improvement
- Drive cost-optimization initiatives across the organization.
- Monitor operational expenses, overheads, and cost-control measures.
- Conduct profitability reviews by business line, service line, and customer segment.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, operating efficiency, and productivity.
- Establish cost-governance frameworks and spend controls.
- Support productivity improvement initiatives through financial analysis and performance tracking.
- Work with business teams to improve financial discipline and commercial decision-making.
Compliance, Governance and Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory, accounting, and corporate governance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Sri Lankan Companies Act, Inland Revenue regulations, VAT, indirect tax requirements, labour-related financial regulations, IFRS, LKAS, and internal finance policies.
- Monitor changes in regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Maintain effective internal controls, governance frameworks, and financial risk-management practices.
- Lead finance compliance reviews and implement corrective actions.
- Manage financial risk assessments and mitigation plans.
- Ensure all finance activities are completed with accuracy, transparency, and ethical conduct.
Taxation Management
- Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance matters.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory filings.
- Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Minimize tax risks while ensuring full compliance with local tax requirements.
- Support tax audits, tax reviews, investigations, and related statutory inquiries.
- Maintain accurate tax records, workings, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Audit and Internal Controls
- Lead annual external audits and group audit requirements.
- Coordinate internal audits and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.
- Ensure audit findings are addressed within agreed timelines.
- Strengthen the internal control environment and financial governance framework.
- Maintain audit files, compliance documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Work with internal teams to improve process controls and reduce financial risk.
Working Capital and Treasury Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and funding requirements.
- Prepare cash-flow forecasts and funding plans to support business operations.
- Monitor accounts receivable, collections, and working capital performance.
- Optimize working capital utilization and cash management.
- Oversee banking relationships and treasury-related activities.
- Ensure adequate funding availability for operational and strategic requirements.
- Support credit control and collection improvement initiatives.
Business Partnering and Commercial Support
- Support operational leaders in commercial and financial decision-making.
- Provide financial analysis for new business initiatives, investments, pricing strategies, and commercial opportunities.
- Support tender evaluations, business cases, and strategic proposals.
- Participate in leadership discussions to drive sustainable profitability.
- Work closely with business teams to align financial insights with operational priorities.
- Provide clear recommendations to support revenue growth, cost control, and efficiency improvement.
Board and Senior Management Reporting
- Prepare financial presentations and reports for Board meetings and senior leadership reviews.
- Present monthly and quarterly business performance reviews.
- Provide financial insights, key risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Support strategic planning discussions with executive management.
- Ensure senior stakeholders receive accurate, timely, and relevant financial information for decision-making.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Fully qualified in CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, or CIMA.
- MBA or master's degree in Finance will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of progressive finance experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role.
- Experience managing complete country finance operations is required.
- Experience in a multinational organization will be highly preferred.
- Strong exposure to group reporting environments.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, IFRS, LKAS, group consolidation reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, tax compliance, internal controls, financial analysis, cost management, ERP systems, advanced Excel, Power BI, and risk management.
- Experience managing audits, taxation, budgeting, compliance frameworks, and financial governance.
- Experience presenting financial reports to senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to support business decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder management, decision-making, and coaching skills.
- Strong leadership and team-development capability.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data-management software.
