Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Manager - Fintech (IT) to lead the implementation, integration, support, and continuous improvement of digital payment platforms and fintech solutions.
The selected candidate will provide technical leadership, manage complex payment and integration projects, oversee production stability, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and ensure that digital payment services remain secure, compliant, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals supporting digital payment and fintech platforms.
- Contribute to the strategic planning, policy development, and implementation roadmap for digital payment initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior management to define technology priorities, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships, service-level agreements, contract discussions, and delivery performance.
- Lead the implementation of payment gateways, processors, digital wallets, fintech platforms, and related digital services.
- Architect and integrate end-to-end payment solutions across web, mobile, and digital sales channels.
- Coordinate API and web-service integrations using REST, JSON, SOAP, and other relevant protocols.
- Support Open Banking, LankaQR, and other interoperable digital payment initiatives.
- Oversee system monitoring, technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Act as the escalation point for critical production incidents and service disruptions.
- Perform log analysis, data validation, and root-cause analysis for complex technical issues.
- Ensure payment systems maintain high availability, stability, security, and performance.
- Coordinate incident resolution with IT infrastructure, application, security, business, and vendor teams.
- Maintain system configurations, user documentation, technical records, and knowledge bases.
- Review customer complaints and ensure technical issues are resolved within agreed SLAs.
- Ensure all payment and fintech solutions comply with applicable security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with PCI DSS and other relevant payment-security frameworks.
- Coordinate with IT Security to implement encryption, SSL certificates, access controls, and preventive security measures.
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity risks and recommend suitable controls and improvements.
- Prepare management reports, project updates, incident summaries, service-performance dashboards, and risk reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve system architecture, automation, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in IT will be an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, with strong exposure to digital channels, payment systems, or fintech.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, including team and project management.
- Hands-on experience supporting card payments, mobile wallets, fintech applications, or digital payment platforms.
- Experience leading system integrations, API implementations, and digital technology projects.
- Strong understanding of digital payment ecosystems, payment gateways, processors, and fintech platforms.
- Good knowledge of REST, JSON, SOAP, APIs, and web services.
- Experience with Linux or Unix server administration is essential.
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of scripting languages and automation practices.
- Understanding of payment security, encryption methods, SSL certificates, and PCI DSS compliance.
- Knowledge of digital wallets, Open Banking, LankaQR, and interoperable payment solutions will be preferred.
- Exposure to telecommunications protocols such as SS7, SIGTRAN, CAMEL, or Diameter will be a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing critical incidents and resolving complex production issues.
- Strong vendor-management, negotiation, planning, and SLA-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala, both written and spoken.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strategic, accountable, security-conscious, and capable of working effectively across cross-functional teams.
