Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to support a growing portfolio of UK-based clients through the delivery of accurate and timely bookkeeping and accounting services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, performing reconciliations, supporting VAT and payroll requirements, and assisting with management reporting activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with UK clients while utilizing modern cloud accounting platforms and digital automation tools within a dynamic and fast-paced professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of client accounts and deliver bookkeeping services accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, payments, journals, and other accounting transactions.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly recorded within accounting systems.
- Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliation processes.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for assigned client portfolios.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with UK VAT regulations and reporting requirements.
- Support payroll processing activities and pension administration requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end reporting activities.
- Support year-end accounting processes by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting working papers.
- Prepare onboarding documentation and presentation materials for new clients.
- Utilize cloud accounting platforms and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service quality.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide progress updates.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professional service delivery.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across the accounting function.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified or currently pursuing ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent accounting qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within a UK accounting practice or BPO environment.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud accounting platforms, particularly Xero.
- Experience with QuickBooks and Dext will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations, and financial record management.
- Experience supporting VAT returns, management accounts, and month-end reporting activities.
- Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Confidence to communicate directly with international clients and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
