Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Security Operations Consultant to join a growing Cybersecurity Practice and play a key role in bridging the gap between technical operations and customer strategy. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between customers and Security Engineering teams, translating business objectives into actionable cybersecurity outcomes. This role combines security consulting, stakeholder engagement, strategic advisory, and operational cybersecurity expertise to support customers in improving their security posture while maximizing the value of managed security services. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable discussing security technologies with engineers and presenting strategic recommendations to executive stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary security liaison between customers and internal Security Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Conduct stakeholder workshops, cyber maturity assessments, and security roadmap planning sessions.
  • Understand customer business objectives, operational requirements, and security priorities.
  • Translate complex technical issues into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Communicate security incidents, project outcomes, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders and act as a long-term cybersecurity advisor.
  • Support customer awareness of evolving cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Security Operations Consultancy

  • Provide consultancy and guidance across Endpoint Security, Email Security, Identity & Access Management, and SIEM/SOAR environments.
  • Advise customers on operational security best practices aligned with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and Essential 8.
  • Coordinate with engineering and operational teams to ensure customer requirements are effectively implemented.
  • Develop security improvement plans, uplift initiatives, security health assessments, and strategic recommendations.
  • Present service improvement opportunities and cybersecurity enhancement strategies.
  • Support incident response coordination and ensure effective stakeholder communication during security events.
  • Facilitate appropriate escalation and management of cybersecurity incidents.
  • Advocate for customer requirements while supporting the continuous evolution of security services.
  • Contribute insights and recommendations to improve managed security service offerings.

Governance, Risk & Continuous Improvement

  • Document security recommendations, operational procedures, risk registers, and customer playbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve security monitoring, detection, response, and reporting capabilities.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and security posture assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying lessons learned and remediation opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance customer security maturity and operational resilience.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in Cybersecurity Operations, Security Consulting, Security Engineering, or a related cybersecurity role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong understanding of Security Operations Centre (SOC) functions and managed security services.
  • Good knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and Essential 8.
  • Strong analytical and consultative approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience translating technical security information into business-focused recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer engagements while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, security reviews, and customer-facing recommendations.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of Endpoint Security technologies such as SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Trend Vision One, or Sophos.
  • Experience with Email Security platforms including Mimecast, Proofpoint, and Microsoft Exchange Online Protection.
  • Knowledge of Identity & Access Management technologies including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and Privileged Access Management.
  • Experience with SIEM and SOAR platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Securonix, or equivalent solutions.
  • Exposure to Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Security Monitoring, Threat Detection, or Cybersecurity Maturity Programs will be highly advantageous.
