Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Technical Superintendent to manage vessel operations, technical maintenance, regulatory compliance, dry docking coordination, cost control, and HSSEQ standards within the fuel supplies industry.
The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring assigned vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements, class regulations, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain safe, cost efficient, and environmentally responsible operational standards for assigned vessels.
- Manage daily vessel operations in line with the company's HSSEQ system.
- Advise Masters and Chief Engineers on important technical and operational matters.
- Review vessel reports, take necessary action, and communicate with internal departments and external parties.
- Follow up on class and statutory certification status, conditions of class, and required surveys.
- Arrange and follow up vessel repairs, maintenance, and technical services.
- Conduct regular vessel visits and prepare detailed visit reports.
- Review monthly cost control and financial reports before management approval.
- Prepare annual budget inputs and management reports for assigned vessels.
- Coordinate dry docking specifications, obtain shipyard quotations, evaluate proposals, and present recommendations for approval.
- Attend dry docking, review shipyard invoices, and prepare docking reports.
- Follow up purchasing activities and monitor vessel orders to ensure timely submission.
- Approve invoices for payment according to company procedures.
- Liaise with the Insurance Manager on claims handling when required.
- Support the company's emergency response team for assigned vessels.
- Monitor onboard maintenance systems, including AMOS, and take action on overdue items.
- Follow up deficiencies and non conformities from inspections, audits, port state control, vetting, and flag state requirements.
- Ensure corrective actions are completed and closed while keeping the HSSEQ department informed.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering, Electrical
- Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in marine engineering or vessel technical operations will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance, repairs, class requirements, statutory certification, and dry docking processes.
- Good understanding of HSSEQ systems, safety standards,
- environmental requirements, and operational compliance.
- Ability to coordinate with Masters, Chief Engineers, shipyards,
- suppliers, internal teams, and external authorities.
- Good cost control, reporting, planning, and technical documentation skills.
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
- Strong problem solving, communication, coordination, and decision making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple vessel related tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Professional, responsible, and able to work in a structured marine and fuel supplies environment.
