Role Overview

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Engineer – Data Engineering – Tableau to design and develop advanced dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions using Tableau and Power BI.

The selected candidate will play a key role in modernizing legacy and Excel-based reporting processes, building user-friendly analytics solutions, supporting data governance, troubleshooting data issues, and helping business users make informed decisions through accurate and meaningful visualizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau Desktop and Power BI.
  • Replace existing Excel-based and legacy reports with interactive business intelligence solutions.
  • Design new analytics and reporting solutions for business requirements where no existing reports are available.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, accurate, and user-friendly dashboards.
  • Apply data-visualization best practices when developing reports and analytics solutions.
  • Maintain and manage the existing library of Tableau and Power BI dashboards.
  • Write and optimize SQL SELECT statements to extract, validate, and analyze data.
  • Investigate data issues and respond to reporting and analytics-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and recommend suitable analytical solutions.
  • Act as an analytical translator between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Support the development of data sources, reporting models, and data-governance practices.
  • Provide backup development and support for existing BI tools such as Cognos and Excel.
  • Liaise with Tableau and Power BI Server teams regarding publishing, performance, access, and technical issues.
  • Administer user access, security, and permission requests for reporting platforms.
  • Deliver Tableau and Power BI training sessions and demonstrations to business users.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to users to improve their ability to work with data and analytics tools.
  • Support the organization's migration from traditional reporting tools to Tableau and Power BI.
  • Troubleshoot dashboard, query, data-source, and reporting-performance issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation, report specifications, data definitions, and user guides.
  • Continuously learn and apply new Tableau, Power BI, analytics, and visualization capabilities.
  • Manage multiple reporting and dashboard-development assignments while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Support additional analytics and reporting responsibilities assigned by the team.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in business intelligence, report development, data analytics, or a related role.
  • Expert proficiency in Tableau Desktop.
  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI Desktop.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical and visualization skills through a Tableau Public, Power BI, or similar portfolio.
  • Expert proficiency in writing SQL SELECT statements.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and data-visualization skills.
  • Good understanding of visualization standards, dashboard usability, and reporting best practices.
  • Experience converting Excel-based and legacy reports into interactive dashboards.
  • Ability to understand business questions and translate them into effective data solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering training, demonstrations, or user-support sessions.
  • Familiarity with Tableau Server, Power BI Server, publishing, and user-access management.
  • Exposure to Cognos, Excel reporting, data governance, or data-source development will be an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work productively in a remote or hybrid working environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and committed to delivering accurate work.
  • Independent thinker with the ability to suggest creative solutions to existing business problems.
