Role Overview
We are seeking a highly accomplished and commercially focused Senior Manager – Finance to provide strategic financial leadership and support the organization's long-term growth objectives. Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in financial strategy execution, regulatory reporting, capital management, financial planning, business partnering, and finance transformation initiatives. This role requires an experienced finance professional with strong expertise in financial reporting, planning, budgeting, governance, stakeholder management, and financial services operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Business Partnering
- Support the CFO in developing and executing the organization's financial strategy.
- Translate strategic priorities and business plans into measurable financial outcomes.
- Evaluate the profitability of products, distribution channels, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and new business initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Act as a trusted business partner to leadership teams across the organization.
Financial Reporting & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards including IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
- Coordinate management reporting and Board reporting activities.
- Support external audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and other external stakeholders as required.
- Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies, governance frameworks, and reporting standards.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting outputs.
Capital, Solvency & Reinsurance Management
- Monitor capital adequacy and solvency requirements.
- Support capital optimization and capital management initiatives.
- Assess dividend capacity and related financial implications.
- Evaluate reinsurance arrangements and analyze their financial and capital impact.
- Participate in stress testing, financial scenario modelling, and solvency assessments.
- Provide recommendations to strengthen financial resilience and regulatory readiness.
Actuarial & Finance Integration
- Collaborate closely with Actuarial teams on IFRS 17 measurement and reporting activities.
- Support product profitability analysis, experience investigations, and assumption reviews.
- Assist in embedded value assessments and other actuarial-financial evaluations.
- Ensure consistency, integrity, and reconciliation between actuarial and finance outputs.
- Provide financial perspectives on actuarial outcomes and business implications.
Planning, Budgeting & Performance Management
- Lead the annual budgeting process and coordinate rolling forecast activities.
- Support long-term financial planning and strategic forecasting.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs across the business.
- Analyze performance against budgets and forecasts and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive cost optimization and expense management initiatives.
- Provide performance insights to support business growth and profitability objectives.
Investment, Treasury & Asset-Liability Management
- Partner with relevant stakeholders on portfolio performance monitoring and investment accounting.
- Support asset-liability matching strategies and liquidity management activities.
- Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, and funding requirements within the assigned scope.
- Assess the financial implications of investment strategies and portfolio decisions.
- Contribute to investment governance, reporting, and risk management processes.
Governance & Management Support
- Support the preparation of Board papers, management reports, and financial presentations.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and business insights to senior management.
- Support Audit, Risk, Investment, and other Board and management committees.
- Strengthen financial governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
- Ensure the finance function contributes effectively to organizational governance objectives.
Finance Transformation & Digitalization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function.
- Support finance transformation programs, operating model enhancements, and process optimization.
- Promote automation, analytics, and digitalization initiatives across finance operations.
- Enhance the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of management information.
- Strengthen finance data governance, reporting capabilities, and analytical frameworks.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams to achieve high performance.
- Build technical, analytical, and leadership capabilities within the function.
- Develop succession plans and strengthen the finance talent pipeline.
- Promote collaboration across Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Risk, and Business Units.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
Candidate Profile
- Professional qualification in CA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- A Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant Finance experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience at Manager level or above.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, planning, budgeting, performance management, and business partnering.
- Experience within a regulated financial services environment will be highly advantageous.
- Prior exposure to the insurance sector is preferred.
- Life insurance industry experience will be a distinct advantage.
- Exposure to IFRS 17 and/or IFRS 9 is highly desirable.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
- Excellent commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to convert financial information into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, regulators, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong people leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change, process improvement, and finance transformation initiatives.
