Purpose:
The Assistant Manager Industrial Engineering plays a strategic role in optimizing industrial processes and driving factory-wide productivity improvements. The role involves analyzing workflows, implementing efficiency and cost-saving initiatives, ensuring effective resource utilization, and leading a team to champion continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiency Improvement & Yamazumi Analysis
- Drive factory-wide Yamazumi analysis to identify process bottlenecks.
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement targeted solutions for measurable efficiency gains.
- Guide the team in SMV development and validation.
- Incentive System Development & Management
- Develop, optimize, and continuously improve the plant-wide incentive system.
- Monitor implementation, ensure compliance, and address deviations promptly.
- Collaborate with HR and stakeholders for accurate and timely incentive disbursements.
- Time, Method & Production Study Leadership
- Oversee time, motion, and method studies across multiple VSMs.
- Ensure proper documentation and analysis (video, SMV sheets).
- Audit SMV accuracy regularly to maintain data integrity.
- Strategic Coordination
- Liaise with R&I and Technical teams to align on material specifications, consumption, and process feasibility.
- Analyze specification deviations and provide engineering-based solutions.
- Leadership in Method Engineering & Process Improvements
- Champion quick changeover techniques and critical path balancing.
- Lead lean manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives to reduce waste and increase flexibility.
- Process Innovation & Capacity Optimization
- Evaluate and propose process innovations with ROI-based justifications.
- Implement process changes with clear metrics on productivity, cost savings, and waste reduction.
- Standards Deployment & Change Management
- Supervise the implementation of new methods and standards in collaboration with production leadership.
- Conduct necessary training and change management support.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Team Development
- Align production efficiency and quality standards with VSM, QA, and planning teams.
- Mentor junior IEs and support their development.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or above), or Work Study is an advantage.
Professional Experience
- 4-5 years of relevant industrial experience in textile/garment manufacturing.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and data visualization tools is preferred.
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Proficiency in IE tools: Time and Motion Study, SMV Calculation, Yamazumi Analysis, and Line Balancing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively across teams.
- Excellent relationship-building and teamwork abilities.
