Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Protection Officer to lead and manage the organizations enterprise-wide data protection and privacy program. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws, regulatory requirements, and international information security standards while embedding privacy and security controls across business and technology operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the enterprise data protection and privacy program.

  • Ensure compliance with PDPA, Central Bank of Sri Lanka regulations, and internal governance frameworks.

  • Work closely with IT and Cybersecurity teams to embed privacy-by-design principles and security controls.

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and data protection risk assessments, and drive corrective actions.

  • Lead ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 implementation and ongoing compliance initiatives.

  • Establish and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and awareness programs.

  • Liaise with the Data Protection Authority and support audits and regulatory reporting requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in data protection or information security management.

  • Sound knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements for financial institutions.
