Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Manager – Tax to lead and manage all tax-related matters across a diversified business portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements, providing expert tax advisory support, strengthening tax governance frameworks, and supporting senior management with strategic tax planning and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee direct and indirect tax matters including Income Tax, VAT, ESC, WHT, and other statutory obligations, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.

  • Review and approve tax computations, returns, provisions, estimates, and payments in line with Inland Revenue regulations and deadlines.

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and tax authorities on audits, assessments, appeals, rulings, and clarifications.

  • Provide strategic tax advisory support for investments, restructuring, business transactions, cross-border activities, and new ventures.

  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve internal tax governance frameworks, policies, SOPs, and documentation.

  • Identify tax risks and ensure effective controls and mitigation strategies across business units.

  • Partner with Group Finance and senior leadership on tax planning, forecasting, scenario analysis, and cash flow optimization.

  • Mentor and guide junior tax and finance team members where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification in Taxation is essential.

  • Professional qualification such as CA Sri Lanka or equivalent will be a distinct advantage.

  • Minimum 7–8 years of progressive experience in taxation, including at least 3–4 years in a senior tax role or reputed tax consulting firm.

  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of Sri Lankan tax laws, Inland Revenue practices, and tax compliance frameworks.

  • Proven experience handling tax audits, assessments, appeals, and advisory assignments.

  • Practical exposure to applying IFRS in tax-related matters will be an added advantage.
