About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-driven Project Engineer – Construction to manage retail showroom construction and renovation projects across multiple locations. This role requires strong civil engineering expertise combined with practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to ensure seamless project execution, timely delivery, and cost-effective project management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing construction activities, coordinating contractors and consultants, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring high-quality project execution in line with brand standards and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• Oversee construction and renovation of retail showrooms, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously across different locations.
• Coordinate project schedules, resources, and contractor activities to ensure successful execution.
• Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.

Technical Coordination

• Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and MEP teams (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing).
• Ensure all technical requirements and construction specifications are properly implemented.
• Review drawings, technical details, and site requirements prior to project execution.
• Resolve technical and site-related issues promptly and effectively.

Site Management & Quality Control

• Conduct site evaluations, inspections, and feasibility assessments for new showroom locations.
• Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure high-quality finishes aligned with brand standards.
• Ensure projects comply with safety regulations and statutory requirements.

Cost Management & BOQ Preparation

• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and budget forecasts.
• Monitor project expenditures and control costs throughout project execution.
• Evaluate contractor quotations and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Support project budgeting and procurement activities.

Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and project teams.
• Ensure clear communication and coordination among all project participants.
• Maintain project documentation, progress reports, and status updates for management.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in commercial construction, retail fit-outs, or related construction projects.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction project management.
• Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with experience in MEP coordination.
• Proven experience in contractor management and project execution.
• Experience in showroom construction, retail projects, commercial interiors, or fit-out projects will be a distinct advantage.
• Strong budgeting, BOQ preparation, and cost control capabilities.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites as required.
