Role Overview 

We are seeking a commercially driven Manager – Tea Trading & Marketing to shape and execute tea trading and international market strategies that strengthen customer relationships, expand profitable business across assigned markets, optimize tea sourcing and inventory, and improve margins through sound commercial and market decisions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned tea purchasing activities at the Colombo Tea Auction, including tasting, grading, valuation, and procurement.
• Monitor auction, market, and competitor trends and provide insights to support purchasing, pricing, and market decisions.
• Manage assigned international customer accounts and build strong, long-term commercial relationships.
• Identify and develop new customers, markets, and product opportunities to support profitable business growth.
• Prepare customer and market development plans and support sales forecasting, pricing, and negotiations.
• Manage blend allocation, stock utilisation, and cost optimisation while maintaining required quality standards.
• Work closely with production, quality, planning, shipping, and other cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered effectively.

Candidate Profile

• Degree or professional qualification in Tea, Agriculture, Business Management, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in tea trading, tea buying, exports, or international marketing.
• Strong knowledge of tea tasting, grading, valuation, blending, and Colombo Tea Auction practices.
• Proven track record in managing international customers, developing new markets, and delivering profitable business growth.
• Commercially driven with strong relationship management skills.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and international stakeholders.
