Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly consultative Principal Consultant – Cyber Security to join a growing Cyber Security Consulting Practice and lead strategic client engagements across governance, risk, compliance, and security transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to assess cyber risks, evaluate security maturity, develop security roadmaps, and provide strategic guidance that strengthens organizational resilience. This is a leadership role that requires a strong blend of cyber security expertise, consulting capability, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and the ability to deliver measurable business outcomes. As a trusted advisor, you will help organizations understand and manage cyber risk while supporting their journey towards stronger security governance, operational maturity, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cyber security consulting engagements for clients across various industries.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while acting as a trusted strategic advisor.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops to identify business objectives, cyber security challenges, and risk priorities.
- Deliver cyber maturity assessments, cyber security strategies, roadmap development, and risk assessments.
- Translate technical cyber security concepts into business-focused recommendations.
- Present technical and non-technical solutions to executive leadership teams and business stakeholders.
- Develop and enhance consulting service offerings aligned with market demands and client requirements.
- Support business development activities by identifying opportunities and contributing to market growth initiatives.
- Prepare proposals, tender responses, statements of work, and engagement documentation.
- Support Account Managers and Business Development teams in customer engagements and pre-sales activities.
- Provide quality assurance and governance across consulting engagements.
- Manage project budgets, resource allocations, timelines, and delivery expectations.
- Ensure consulting engagements achieve measurable business and security outcomes.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership to consulting team members.
- Drive continuous improvement in consulting methodologies, frameworks, and deliverables.
- Develop thought leadership content and contribute to the growth of cyber security consulting capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging cyber threats, security technologies, industry frameworks, and compliance requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience within a Cyber Security Consulting, Information Security, Risk Advisory, or Security Governance environment.
- Experience leading complex consulting engagements and delivering tangible business outcomes.
- Strong commercial awareness and consulting acumen.
- Experience operating within consulting, managed services, or professional services environments.
- Strong experience conducting stakeholder workshops and facilitating strategic discussions.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, executive leadership, and business stakeholders.
- Strong client management skills with a customer-focused and advisory-oriented approach.
- Experience managing multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
- High levels of organization, planning, and time management capability.
- Strong analytical thinking, conceptual problem-solving, and systems-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while effectively contributing to team success.
Technical Expertise
- Extensive knowledge of cyber security governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight, Information Security Manual (ISM), and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Experience implementing, assessing, and auditing security controls and risk management frameworks.
- Strong understanding of security methodologies including OWASP, OSSTMM, and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Broad knowledge of enterprise technology environments, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and security architectures.
- Experience developing security policies, standards, procedures, and governance documentation.
- Strong understanding of business process analysis, strategic planning, and cyber security program development.
- Experience supporting pre-sales, account management, and consulting lifecycle management activities.
Professional Certifications
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent cyber security certifications will be highly advantageous.
- Government security clearances will be considered an added advantage.
