Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Director – HR & Operations to lead HR operations, employee experience, compliance, retention, engagement, and workforce management across multiple locations. This strategic leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of the entire employee lifecycle while fostering a high-performance, compliant, and employee-centric culture. The successful candidate will oversee HR operations, payroll administration, employee relations, DEI initiatives, compliance frameworks, internal communications, and workforce analytics while serving as a key business partner to leadership teams across the organization. This position requires a dynamic HR leader with strong operational expertise, exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to build and sustain a highly engaged workforce within a fast-paced service delivery environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle, ensuring a seamless and professional employee experience.
  • Oversee onboarding processes including documentation, background verification, system access, and employee induction activities.
  • Manage all offboarding processes including resignations, exit interviews, asset clearance, and access revocation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and oversee the issuance of employment confirmations, service letters, visa letters, increment letters, and related documentation.
  • Ensure effective administration of leave management, attendance systems, and workforce compliance processes.
  • Manage payroll coordination, salary reviews, annual increments, mid-year adjustments, bonuses, gratuity payments, and payroll audits.
  • Administer employee welfare programs, insurance schemes, and benefits initiatives.
  • Ensure the smooth delivery of HR operational services across multiple business locations.

Employee Relations, Retention & Engagement

  • Develop and implement employee engagement strategies that strengthen workplace culture and employee experience.
  • Lead employee retention initiatives designed to reduce attrition and improve workforce stability.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement programs including events, surveys, focus groups, meetups, and employee recognition initiatives.
  • Conduct regular employee interactions and workplace engagement activities to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage employee grievances, disciplinary matters, investigations, and conflict resolution procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations and people management matters.
  • Drive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives that foster an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
  • Promote employee wellbeing and maintain a positive organizational environment.

Policy, Compliance & Governance

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and operational frameworks.
  • Ensure HR policies align with organizational objectives, business requirements, and legal obligations.
  • Maintain compliance with Sri Lankan labour laws, regulatory requirements, and employment standards.
  • Act as the key liaison with legal and regulatory authorities on HR-related matters when required.
  • Lead internal and external HR audit activities and ensure audit readiness at all times.
  • Manage compliance requirements relating to certifications, documentation, and governance frameworks.
  • Support SOC documentation processes and related compliance initiatives.
  • Drive best practices in HR governance, compliance management, and risk mitigation.

HR Analytics & Business Reporting

  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards, workforce analytics, and operational reports.
  • Provide leadership teams with meaningful insights on workforce trends, productivity, engagement, retention, and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze people metrics and provide recommendations that support business and workforce decisions.
  • Monitor HR operational performance and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Support strategic workforce planning through data-driven decision-making.

Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Partner with business leaders to align people strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop HR teams across multiple locations.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational growth initiatives through effective people practices and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce, culture, and organizational effectiveness matters.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or a related discipline.
  • A Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Professional qualifications such as CIPM, SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent HR certifications will be highly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a senior HR leadership or HR operations role.
  • Proven experience managing the complete employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, payroll, compliance, and offboarding.
  • Strong experience in payroll administration, benefits management, HR governance, and workforce operations.
  • Thorough understanding of Sri Lankan labour laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in Healthcare BPO, Shared Services, Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), or similar service-driven environments will be an added advantage.
  • Strong track record of leading employee engagement, retention, and DEI initiatives.
  • Experience managing HR audits, compliance programs, and operational controls.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience developing workforce reports and HR dashboards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and teams across geographically distributed locations.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in rotational shift environments when required.
