Role Overview 

We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Assistant Manager – Finance to support the overall financial management, governance, reporting, compliance, and business planning functions of a prestigious and established organization. The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance leadership to ensure the delivery of accurate financial reporting, effective budgetary control, efficient cash flow management, robust internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional to contribute to strategic decision-making while supporting continuous business improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine Big Four audit experience with strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Financial Reporting & Management Accounting

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management accounts, reconciliations, and committee reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records and accounting information.
  • Review and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare periodic financial dashboards, KPI reports, and management information reports.
  • Support management with meaningful financial insights and recommendations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal reporting requirements.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of annual operating budgets and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support rolling forecasts and long-term financial planning initiatives.
  • Monitor working capital requirements and liquidity management activities.
  • Provide recommendations and corrective actions to improve financial performance.
  • Conduct variance analysis and support business units with financial planning activities.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor daily cash flow positions and ensure adequate liquidity for operational requirements.
  • Support treasury management activities and banking relationships.
  • Coordinate with financial institutions regarding banking facilities and operational requirements.
  • Review cash flow forecasts and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Support optimization of working capital and cash management processes.

Procurement, Cost Control & Financial Analysis

  • Oversee procurement-related financial activities and ensure compliance with approved budgets and policies.
  • Monitor expenditure trends and identify opportunities for improved cost management.
  • Prepare periodic cost analyses and financial performance reports.
  • Support operational departments with financial insights to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Participate in strategic cost-control and value-creation initiatives.
  • Analyze business performance and recommend financial improvements.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audit activities.
  • Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with auditors and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, taxation, and reporting requirements.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory obligations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain effective relationships with banks, auditors, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support senior management with financial analysis, presentations, and business cases.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on finance-related matters.
  • Contribute to organizational improvement projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Support senior finance leadership in managing the overall finance function.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Passed Finalist or Case Study Pending of CA Sri Lanka, or fully qualified in CIMA or ACCA.
  • Mandatory minimum 3 years of external audit experience within a Big Four Audit Firm.
  • Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, accounting standards, taxation, audit, and compliance.
  • Experience handling management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to contribute to strategic business decisions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
