About the job 3D Visual Designer

About Inspekt AI
Inspekt AI is building the future of property inspection. We use computer vision, drones, thermal imaging, and 3D modelling to automate and enhance the analysis of building façades and roofs. Our platform turns raw field data into clear, actionable insights for inspectors, engineers, and
asset managers worldwide.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented 3D Visual Designer to join our team and take ownership of the visual quality of our 3D models. You will work with raw spatial data — including OBJ meshes and Cesium-based 3D tiles — and transform it into polished, visually accurate representations of real-world buildings. This is a creative and technical role at the intersection of 3D art and geospatial data. You will collaborate closely with our computer vision, drone operations, and engineering teams to ensure that what users see in the platform is as accurate, clear, and compelling as possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve the visual quality of 3D building models derived from drone and photogrammetry data, including cleaning meshes, correcting geometry artefacts, and enhancing surface detail.
  • Apply and optimise textures, materials, and shading to bring models to a high standard of realism appropriate for professional inspection workflows.
  • Work with OBJ, glTF, and Cesium 3D Tiles formats across the pipeline — from raw export to platform-ready assets.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent visual style for 3D assets across the Inspekt AI platform.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure models are optimised for performance in the browser (polygon budgets, LOD strategies, texture compression).
  • Evaluate and improve automated model outputs, flagging quality issues and proposing process improvements.
  • Research and test emerging tools and workflows that could improve 3D asset quality or production efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with 3D modelling tools — Blender is the primary tool for this role; experience with other packages (e.g. Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Maya) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mesh topology, UV unwrapping, texture baking, and PBR material workflows.
  • Familiarity with OBJ, glTF/GLB, and ideally Cesium 3D Tiles or similar geospatial 3D formats.
  • Good visual eye — ability to assess model quality, identify issues, and make targeted improvements.
  • Experience with photogrammetry outputs (e.g. from RealityCapture, Metashape, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working with large, real-world scan data and handling the artefacts that come with it.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across a distributed, international team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CesiumJS or other geospatial 3D rendering platforms.
  • Familiarity with Three.js or WebGL for understanding how models render in the browser.
  • Background in architecture, construction, or property inspection domains.
  • Scripting skills in Python (for Blender automation) or other tools for batch processing of assets.
  • Interest in or experience with drone-captured data, LiDAR point clouds, or thermal imaging datasets.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful role with real impact — your work will directly improve what customers see and trust.
  • A collaborative, technically strong team working on genuinely hard problems.
  • Flexible, remote-first working arrangement.
  • Competitive compensation with ESOP eligibility.
  • Opportunity to grow with the company as we scale internationally.
