About the job GIS Professional / GIS Analyst

The GIS Analyst will support the delivery of GIS services for a national mapping programme, including data processing, spatial analysis, and the preparation and maintenance of spatial datasets within a public-sector environment. This is an independent contractor position on an initial 12-month contract. 

Key Responsibilities

Perform GIS data processing, spatial analysis and mapping tasks

Prepare, update and maintain GIS datasets in line with programme requirements

Support integration of planning, zoning and other public-sector spatial data

Conduct data validation and quality assurance checks

Produce maps, reports and spatial outputs to required standards

Collaborate with local authority GIS teams and other stakeholders

Support delivery of defined work packages under direction of the Senior GIS Professional

Essential Experience and Skills

Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in GIS

Strong working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS tools and environments

Experience in spatial data management, analysis and mapping

Good understanding of data quality and validation practices

Desirable Experience

Experience working with public sector or local authority datasets

Familiarity with planning or land use spatial data

Experience supporting high-volume GIS data processing tasks

Knowledge of spatial data standards and best practices
