Role Summary:

The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats and incidents. This role involves implementing and maintaining security measures, conducting risk assessments, and providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with security policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Threat Monitoring and Incident Response:

  • Monitor security systems and logs to detect and respond to potential threats or breaches.
  • Investigate security incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimise downtime and mitigate risks.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and networks.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address vulnerabilities and improve security posture.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory and organisational security standards.

Policy and Process Development:

  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Educate employees on cybersecurity awareness and preventive measures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of security processes, incidents, and resolutions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on emerging threats, technologies, and industry trends to recommend proactive solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement new security tools and technologies to enhance system protection.
  • Support audits and reviews of security infrastructure and processes.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity or information security roles, with a focus on threat detection and response.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure or transportation sectors.
  • Familiarity with cloud security, incident handling, or forensic investigation tools.
