Senior Application Specialist (Vessel PMS)
We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Specialist (PMS) for one of our global shipping clients.
This person is responsible for implementing, supporting, optimizing, and specializing in the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). This role requires a practitioner with deep PMS functional expertise and strong business analysis skills, working alongside the project manager, ship management teams, and technology vendors to ensure data integrity and deliver operational value.
Key Responsibilities
- PMS Implementation & Support
Lead full-cycle implementation of the PMS module, covering scoping, configuration, data migration, UAT, and go-live. Provide ongoing technical and functional support, coordinating with vendor and internal teams to resolve incidents, manage upgrades, and maintain system stability. - Business Process Management
Analyze, document, and optimize planned maintenance and procurement/accounting workflows. Translate operational processes into effective system configurations and propose improvements to enhance efficiency. - Requirements & Solution Delivery
Engage ship management, technical, and finance stakeholders to elicit and document business requirements. Produce functional specifications and test cases; deploy configurations and enhancements; develop training materials and conduct end-user sessions. - Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships primarily with vessel technical superintendents, and other application owners. Work with business stakeholders to prioritize enhancement requests, support needs, and transformation initiatives related to the PMS ecosystem. - Vendor Management
Evaluate vendor deliverables against agreed service levels and drive resolution of open issues within contracted timelines.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, and other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum 6–10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise application implementation, business analysis, or IT project management, preferably within the maritime or ship management industry.
- Mandatory: Demonstrated, hands-on experience implementing and supporting Maritime ERP systems, with deep functional expertise in ship management operations for at least Planned Maintenance System (PMS) workflows.
- Strong business analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, gap analysis, process mapping, functional specification writing, and UAT coordination.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master, PRINCE2) or Business analyst certification (e.g., CBAP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with data governance, application lifecycle management, and integration concepts (e.g., API-based integrations, data migration methodologies) relevant to maritime ERP environments.
- Familiarity with workflow automation, AI/ML technologies, or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to enhance reporting and decision-making within thePMS ecosystem will be a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams spanning shore-based management and vessel crews.
