We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Executive (Cash Management) for one of our international shipping clients. The position will play a key role in assisting the Accounts Manager to process payments and claims accurately in compliance with the internal control and OFAC / Sanction requirements and to prepare monthly funds request from principals and monthly disbursement reports. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years experience in shipping industry and has hands-on exposure in processing of payments and claims accurately.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all incoming receipts are forwarded to the person-in-charge for verification.
  • Ensure that all payments to be arranged are approved and compliant in the Counterparty Management System.
  • Prepare payments for both local and foreign currencies accurately and timely.
  • Create journal entries for all payments, receipts, bank charges and intercompany transactions.
  • Ensure foreign currency exchange differences are properly recorded.
  • Check and ensure that all journal entries are correctly coded and validated by first working day of the following month.
  • Upload the monthly crew allotment payments that are cleared by Legal and Compliance Manager to the banking system for payment. Ensure the number of transactions and crew allotment amounts uploaded match to the authorised summary list.
  • Attend to queries with regards to payment details request, provide supporting documents required for claims and follow up on payments that are returned which require re-effect of the payments.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of cash and bank transactions.
  • Prepare weekly cash reports with reference to the electronic bank statements.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation and updating of GIRO deductions in Danaos Accounting module.
  • Liaise with various departments to prepare monthly cash flow forecast and funds request from principals.
  • Monthly allocation of vessel operating costs to the fleet.
  • Prepare and ensure timely submission of monthly disbursement report.
  • Assist in ad-hoc duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree/ Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the shipping industry.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills spoken and written English.
  • A team player who is hands-on and meticulous in his/her work and can deliver within tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office in particular MS Excel application.
  • Working knowledge of Danaos Enterprise will be advantageous.
