We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent for one of our global ship management clients in the Maritime Industry. They are looking for an experienced Vessel Manager for the efficient operations of their companys fleet of vessels.
The ideal candidate would have prior experience managing tanker or bulk carrier vessels and fluent communication in Japanese. They should demonstrate a hands-on, safety-driven approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure assigned vessels comply with Class, Flag State, Port State, and Oil Major requirements.
- Oversee the technical maintenance, repair, and certification of vessels to achieve optimal performance and safety standards.
- Monitor and control vessel budgets, ensuring cost efficiency in line with company procedures.
- Manage and review the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure timely and compliant maintenance schedules.
- Identify and report to the Senior Superintendent / Technical Manager any technical failures, structural issues, or risks affecting vessel safety, crew, or cargo.
- Coordinate and plan corrective actions for deficiencies or non-conformities raised during inspections or audits.
- Review bunker and lube oil analysis, addressing deviations and implementing corrective measures.
- Verify vessel classification status, survey reports, and liaise with class societies for any discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing dry-docking specifications, tenders, and cost comparisons.
- Supervise dry-docking, repair, and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and budget.
- Maintain strong collaboration with Masters, Chief Engineers, and shore management to achieve safe and efficient operations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent or in technical vessel management
- Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written) so that he/she could communicate with their Japanese clients.
- Strong command of English in both written and verbal communication.
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
- Experience in newbuilding or dry-docking projects will be an advantage.
- Proactive, safety-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
