Key Account Manager
About the job Key Account Manager
We are looking for a self-driven and experienced Key Account Manager for one of our shipping clients. He/She will manage and execute commercial activities globally and will have exposure to work with reputable international brands. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of working experience in commercial roles for the ocean-freight services, with strong leadership, negotiation, communication skills and with a keen interest in providing optimal customer service experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop assigned customer accounts, implementing effective commercial strategies in alignment with company goals.
- Actively engage with customers and participate in strategic discussions both internally and externally, schedule Quarterly Business Reviews and face-to-face meetings. Ensure smooth onboarding of new customers.
- Monitor the progress of customer accounts and identify new potential customers or segments for development, aligning with the company's overall strategy and direction.
- Collaborate with Regional Offices (ROs) and relevant stakeholders to secure backhaul cargo and expand the company's footprint with International Freight Forwarders (IFF) and Beneficial Cargo Owners (BCO).
- Stay informed about customer needs and market trends to generate market intelligence for strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Manage high-visibility accounts requiring headquarters-level oversight, specifically in the BCO and IFF segments.
- Develop long-term and tactical strategies to actively drive account performance.
- Contribute to the tender management process, contract reviews, data library compilation, and participate in relevant workshops or projects.
- Foster a culture of innovation and ownership for managed accounts.
- Serve as Acting Deputy in the absence of the Senior Manager, providing backup support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in shipping, freight forwarding, or the logistics industry
- Proven success in business and account development
- A proactive and assertive approach with the capacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced organization.
- Must be able to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft software (eg. PowerPoint, Words, Excel, etc), CRM, etc.
