About the job Senior Naval Architect

We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Senior Naval Architect for an established shipowner company that is based in Singapore. He/she would be responsible for executing and overseeing various aspects of ship design, ensuring compliance with regulations and client specifications. This role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, utilizing technical expertise, and guiding junior team members.

The ideal candidate would have a naval architect qualification and is competence in preparing Technical Specifications and General Arrangements for various vessel types and functions. He/ she would have at least 5 years experience in basic design and engineering of relevant to construction of Marine/ Offshore Units.

Responsibilities

  • Complete basic design drawings and documentation as directed by the Section Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers from different disciplines to gather necessary information.
  • Interpret client requests, technical specifications, rules, and regulations to create informed design concepts.
  • Proficient in hull form and lines design, hydrodynamic performance calculations (using tools like NavCAD), and speed-power predictions.
  • Familiarity with model testing requirements, analysis tests, and interpretation of results.
  • Utilize CAD and Naval Architecture software (e.g., NavCAD, NAPA, GHS) for calculations and design tasks, including stability, hydrostatics, weight distribution, and launching calculations.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including drawing lists, material lists, production information, weight control, and material management documents.
  • Conduct inclining experiments and lightship surveys.
  • Provide support in tendering processes across different ship types, generating 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors, vessel/rig owner representatives, classification society surveyors, and relevant authorities to address technical challenges as needed.
  • Review and approve vendor-certified documents and drawings.
  • Ability to contribute to employee motivation and development.

Experiences

  • Engineering Degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent in Marine/ Offshore Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in basic design and engineering of relevant to construction of Marine/ Offshore Units.
  • Proficiency in Stability, Strength, Resistance, Propulsion, and Structural Design principles.
  • Experience in the complete design process, from basic design to production design.
  • Possess familiarity with LNG vessel designs, regulations, and rules.
  • Understand the principles of machinery equipment and onboard systems, including Marine Machinery and Electrical Systems.
  • Display advanced knowledge of ship design/production processes and production documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of Classification and Statutory Rules and Requirements.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, effective planning, organizational abilities, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills for effective external customer interaction.
