Vessel IT Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Vessel IT Engineer to join the IT Department for one of our global logistics clients.

This role is responsible for managing, supporting, maintaining and upgrading the on-board IT infrastructure across the vessels.

You will provide remote IT support to vessels, with occasional onboard support when required. The opportunity offers development in IT infrastructure, tele-communication and cyber security within a multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote IT support for vessels, crew, with onboard support when required.
• Install, maintain, and optimize existing IT systems, including networks, communication systems (satellite, radio, etc.), servers, network and workstations.
• Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of vessel IT infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability.
• Perform remote and onboard system upgrades, patching, and network maintenance.
• Liaise with vendors, service providers and other IT stakeholders for problem resolution.
• Maintain IT security, system and backup solutions.
• Handle L1 helpdesk escalations and provide technical resolution.
• Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours and weekend support.
• Travel onboard vessels for audits and ad-hoc IT support when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with 2 - 5 years of relevant IT experience.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft technologies, Antivirus, network switches, UPS, firewalls, storage/backup and replication systems.
• Experience supporting or implementing cybersecurity solutions is preferred.
• Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, data cabling and WiFi infrastructure.
• Exposure to ship automation systems will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and perform well under pressure.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive self-motivated, and eager to learn.
• Comfortable working in remote environments with limited support.
• Good team player to effectively work with diverse teams.
