Deputy Manager, Fleet Procurement & Category Management

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager, Fleet Procurement & Category Management for one of our shipping clients. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing sourcing activities related to new vessel construction, dry dockings, marine projects, and day-to-day operational procurement. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in marine & fleet procurement, to drive cost efficiency, ensure supplier performance, and align procurement strategies with the companys technical and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement category strategies for shipbuilding, marine equipment, and technical services.
• Lead procurement planning and execution for new builds, conversions, and dry dock projects.
• Manage sourcing and contract negotiations for fleet operations, including spares, consumables, and services.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; monitor performance and ensure compliance with SLAs.
• Collaborate with technical, operations, and finance teams to align procurement with project and operational needs.
• Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and innovations.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, maritime regulations, and risk management frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Business, or a related field (Masters preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in marine or fleet procurement, with a strong focus on shipbuilding and operations.
• Proven track record in category management, supplier negotiations, and contract execution.
• Familiarity with shipyard operations, classification societies, and maritime compliance standards.
• Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.
