About the job Senior Technical Superintendent
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior/Technical Superintendent for a Singapore-based shipowner. This role is responsible for leading the technical and procurement management of a fleet of domestic and foreign-going oil tankers, ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective resource planning.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Class/Flag/Port State requirements and industry standards such as OCIMF / Oil Major expectations, with proven ability to drive vessel performance, reduce downtime, and uphold safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate technical and procurement activities for assigned fleet; provide guidance and mentorship to superintendents/assistants and procurement personnel.
- Ensure vessels consistently meet regulatory, technical, and operational requirements (Flag/Class, OCIMF/Oil Majors, terminals, ISO/quality systems).
- Drive preventive maintenance effectiveness and resolve defects/deficiencies promptly to minimize downtime.
- Monitor fleet performance and take corrective actions for improvement, including fuel management, defect trends, maintenance execution, and budget control.
- Plan and execute vessel inspection schedules, including frequent ship visits, reporting, and follow-up closure.
- Plan and manage periodical/occasional dockings, including preparation, attendance, and close-out.
- Support and participate in audits and inspections as required (e.g., SMC/MLC audits, SIRE) together with internal stakeholders.
- Assist in incident investigations and close out non-conformances/observations within due dates.
- Handle technical follow-up related to third-party claims and represent the technical department in discussions with external parties.
- Support special projects and any other duties assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Diploma in Marine Engineering (or equivalent).
- Oil tanker seagoing engineer experience up to 2nd Engineer level or relevant oil tanker shore experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position (Senior / Lead Technical Superintendent scope).
- Strong working knowledge of tanker compliance and industry inspections (e.g., OCIMF / SIRE exposure).
- Proficient in MS Office; strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
