About the job Vessel Performance Manager

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Vessel Performance Manager for a global shipping company. He/she will be responsible for maximising the utilisation and efficiency of the fleet by leveraging digital performance monitoring tools and liaise with the team to enhance performance tracking and reporting. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in fleet performance tools.

Responsibilities:


Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor vessel performance ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyse voyage performance, fuel consumption, speed profiles and machinery efficiency to identify variances from benchmarks.
  • Recommend operational adjustments to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Provide insights into hull, propeller and machinery performance to optimise hull/propeller cleaning, dry-docking and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with chartering and operations to align deployment strategies with performance data.
  • Support commercial teams by providing technical input on cost/efficiency trade-offs for voyage planning and charter commitments.
  • Benchmark vessel performance against peer fleet and industry standards to highlight improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with speed and consumption claims on time-chartered tonnage as required.
  • Negotiate hull/ propeller inspection and cleaning contracts on behalf of the organisation and arrange services in collaboration with operations department where needed.


Data & Reporting

  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly vessel performance reports generated from Coach.
  • Ensure KPIs related to fuel efficiency, carbon intensity (CII, EEXI) and operational efficiency are tracked and communicated.
  • Develop dashboards and visualisations to aid management decision-making.
  • Validate data used for reporting, ensuring errors are corrected and inaccurate reports excluded.
  • Ensure speed and consumption data in IMOS is updated on monthly basis for all vessels

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with digital fleet performance tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with IMO regulations (EEXI, CII, SEEMP) and emission reduction strategies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and reporting systems like Coach Onboard, Veslink forms etc.
  • Act as key point of contact for vessels, technical managers,  operations and technical teams on vessel performance matters.
  • Conduct performance review meetings externally with Coach and internal stakeholders to highlight changes and discuss optimisation opportunities.
  • Train ship and shore staff on effective use of the platforms and best practices in efficiency management.
  • Liaise with classification societies, vendors and digital solution providers for continuous platform improvement.
  • Seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer (preferred), or shore-based fleet performance/technical role.
  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in ship performance monitoring, technical operations, or energy efficiency.
