We are currently recruiting for a Product Manufacturing Engineer for a leading public company who is a provider of innovative and optimized satellite communications solutions. Summary:

Responsible for production support engineering for a specific product or group of products. Assumes responsibility for product after transfer from design to high-volume production. Interfaces with design, process, test, and reliability engineering to solve problems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and debug test hardware and software to facilitate product characterization.
  • Participate in the design and debugging of mainframe test hardware and software for production test.
  • Provide project management of new product introductions.
  • Characterization and release phases of new product development.
  • Responsible for production support engineering for specific products or a specific group of products.
  • Developing and maintaining software for automated production testing of sensor products.
  • Proficient in C programming in a DOS environment incorporating GPIB communication protocol.
  • Primarily responsible for manufacturing capability enhancements that include, but are not necessarily limited to yield improvement, testing changes, and site transfers.
  • Assumes responsibility for products after the manufacturing capability has been developed.
  • Investigation and analysis of quality problems to determine cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Develops/maintains computerized manufacturing plans.
  • Responsible for automated assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Implementation and troubleshooting of PLC, sensors, pneumatics, etc.
  • Supports all aspects of engineering of current product lines through quality improvements, value analysis, and reduction of field-related or production problems, including a thorough analysis of the current product and/or component designs.
  • Recommendation and/or implementation of appropriate product design or specification changes.
  • Maintains technical accuracy and quality of work for all related functions, i.e. analytical support, review design alternatives, perform failure mode analysis, first article inspection analysis, tolerance studies, pilot run coordination, etc.
  • Maintain technical responsibility for one or more product lines in production.
  • Implement or support quality and cost reduction efforts in the manufacturing stages.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of design and mechanical engineering concepts.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities when required.

Qualifications/Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ability to use statistical tools in solving problems.
  • Working knowledge of analog circuitry.
  • ATE testing development, and an understanding of x physics are considered key attributes for the successful candidate.
