We are hiring a Desktop Support Engineer (Portuguese Speaking) for a Cape Town-based opportunity where your technical expertise, ownership mindset, and ability to support Portuguese-speaking and English-speaking users will be highly valued.

The role

You will be responsible for supporting a broad Microsoft and infrastructure estate, handling escalated incidents, troubleshooting technical problems, and helping ensure the support function runs effectively and efficiently.

This role requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and take issues through to resolution rather than simply passing them on.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering 2nd line support across desktop, cloud, infrastructure, and critical business systems
  • Supporting incidents passed on from 1st line support
  • Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving incidents within SLA targets
  • Managing P1 and P2 incidents with urgency and control
  • Supporting Windows 10 / 11 end-user environments
  • Monitoring alerts and ensuring tickets are updated, categorised, and progressed properly
  • Working with internal technical teams and third-party vendors to resolve issues effectively
  • Maintaining clear documentation, technical procedures, and knowledge base content
  • Identifying trends and recurring issues to improve service stability and reduce repeat incidents
  • Working in line with security, compliance, governance, and change management standards
  • Providing professional support to Portuguese-speaking and English-speaking users

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in desktop support, 2nd line support, or technical support
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken
  • Confidence in supporting Portuguese-speaking users
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnosis, and analytical fault-finding skills
  • Clear communication and a strong customer-focused mindset
  • The ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced support environment
  • A calm, professional approach when handling high-priority technical issues
  • A proactive attitude and strong sense of ownership
  • The ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to the wider team

Technical experience required:

You should have solid experience across a number of the following:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Office 365
  • Active Directory
  • Backup technologies
  • Windows Server
  • VMware
  • Intune
  • HP and Dell environments
  • Thin clients
  • Troubleshooting 3rd party applications such as Coins and Agress

Preferred certifications:

  • AZ-900
  • MS-900
  • AZ-104 would be advantageous
