Job Description:

A leading, high-growth iGaming and Sports Betting operator is seeking a visionary Head of Product to drive the end-to-end product strategy across multiple African markets. This role sits at the centre of commercial growth, responsible for shaping the evolution of sportsbook, casino, payments, CRM, loyalty, and customer experience platforms tailored to diverse betting behaviours across the continent.

Based in Cape Town and involving regular travel across key African operational markets, this position offers a rare opportunity to define a multi-market product ecosystem, scale innovation across emerging markets, and directly influence revenue growth, customer retention, and competitive positioning.

Build scalable, compliant, high-performance betting and gaming products designed for African customers, delivering differentiated experiences that drive market leadership across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and future expansion markets.

Your Key Job Responsibilities as Head of Product will include:

Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership

  • Own and drive the unified Pan-African product roadmap across sportsbook, casino, CRM, loyalty, payments, wallets, and mobile platforms
  • Develop a cohesive multi-market product strategy balancing localisation requirements with platform consistency and scalability
  • Conduct competitor, behavioural, and market analysis to identify commercial opportunities and product differentiation
  • Prioritise initiatives based on commercial value, technical feasibility, regulatory alignment, and operational readiness
  • Align roadmap execution with executive leadership, country managers, and commercial stakeholders across markets

Product Delivery & Platform Execution

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into PRDs, user stories, UX flows, and functional documentation
  • Oversee integrations with platform providers, payment and wallet systems, KYC vendors, risk tools, and casino content suppliers
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance against defined SLAs
  • Drive platform performance improvements across reliability, scalability, uptime, and page speed

Regulatory & Compliance Integration

  • Ensure all product solutions are fully aligned with jurisdictional regulatory requirements and adaptable to future licensing environments
  • Embed responsible gaming controls, AML/CTF frameworks, and data protection standards (POPIA, NDPR) into system design
  • Maintain structured documentation supporting regulatory audits and compliance reviews
  • Partner closely with legal, risk, and compliance teams to safeguard licensing integrity across markets

Customer Experience & Product Optimisation

  • Own the end-to-end customer journey from onboarding through withdrawal
  • Drive measurable improvements in acquisition conversion, retention, and customer satisfaction through UX optimisation and personalisation
  • Champion mobile-first product design aligned with regional usage patterns
  • Collaborate with CRM, Marketing, and BI teams to deliver segmented, data-driven player engagement strategies
  • Reduce friction across deposits, KYC processes, betting journeys, and cashout cycles

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and scale a high-performing Pan-African product organisation based in Cape Town
  • Work closely with country leadership teams through regular in-market engagement and regional travel
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Trading, Risk, Finance, Compliance, CRM, and Customer Support
  • Present roadmap progress, product KPIs, and performance insights to senior leadership
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and delivery excellence

Success Measures

  • Growth in monthly active users, ARPU, deposit conversion, and retention metrics
  • Strong release velocity and consistent roadmap delivery
  • Platform stability and uptime across sportsbook, casino, and wallet systems
  • Reduction in failed transactions, KYC abandonment, and customer complaints
  • Improvements in NPS and customer satisfaction
  • Full regulatory compliance with zero critical findings

Requirements for this Head of Product role:

  • 7–10+ years experience in product management, including leadership roles
  • Proven delivery of sportsbook and/or online casino platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of African betting markets, particularly South Africa and Nigeria
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary product teams across multiple markets
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across African operational markets

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Deep understanding of sportsbook platforms, casino content integrations, RNG environments, and payment/wallet ecosystems
  • Strong product documentation capability, including PRDs, UX flows, and functional specifications
  • Experience working with analytics and experimentation platforms such as Mixpanel, GA4, Tableau/Looker
