Job Description:

A high-growth sportsbook operator based in Cape Town is strengthening its finance function and is looking for a commercially sharp Bookkeeper who understands the realities of operating in a regulated, high-volume betting environment.

This is not a back-office processing role. It is a control-critical position within a fast-moving iGaming business where accuracy, discipline and financial integrity directly impact operational performance and regulatory standing.

The Opportunity

You will sit within the finance team, taking ownership of transactional integrity across the sportsbook ecosystem. From betting platform revenue to PSP reconciliations and VAT submissions, you will ensure the numbers tie out — every day.

In a sector where margins are tight and regulators are uncompromising, precision is non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger postings

  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations, including payment providers and bank accounts

  • Manage full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles

  • Capture and reconcile betting platform transactions and related revenue streams

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with regulatory requirements

  • Provide financial data and reporting support to management

  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities when required

  • Maintain robust internal controls within a regulated gaming framework

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years bookkeeping experience

  • Proven experience within the iGaming or Sportsbook industry

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance (Diploma or Degree preferred)

  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, revenue recognition and financial controls

  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Pastel or similar

  • Advanced Excel capability

  • Ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume environment

  • Must be based in Cape Town
