We are looking for a Desktop Support Engineer (German Speaking) to join a fast-paced support team in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable support professional who can handle escalated issues, support a broad Microsoft and infrastructure environment, and deliver a high standard of service to both German-speaking and English-speaking users.
This role sits within a regulated healthcare environment, so attention to detail, professionalism, and a clear understanding of confidentiality, security, and compliance are essential.
The role
As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will support users across desktop, cloud, infrastructure, and business-critical systems. You will be expected to troubleshoot effectively, manage tickets accurately, communicate professionally, and ensure incidents are handled in line with service levels and internal processes.
You will play an important role in keeping users productive and systems stable while supporting the wider service function.
What you'll be doing:
- Delivering high-quality 2nd line support across desktop, cloud, infrastructure, and business-critical environments
- Supporting issues escalated from 1st line support
- Troubleshooting and resolving incidents within agreed SLA timeframes
- Handling P1 and P2 incidents with urgency, accuracy, and a calm approach
- Supporting end-user devices and Windows 10 / 11 environments
- Monitoring alerts and ensuring tickets are progressed, updated, and categorised correctly
- Working with internal resolver teams and third-party vendors to drive issues through to resolution
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, support guides, and knowledge articles
- Identifying recurring issues and helping reduce repeat incidents through better visibility and problem management
- Following strict security, governance, change, and configuration management procedures
- Delivering clear and professional support to German-speaking and English-speaking users
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a desktop support, 2nd line support, or technical support role
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
- Confidence in supporting German-speaking users professionally
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical fault-finding skills
- Excellent communication skills and a composed, professional manner
- The ability to multitask and manage priorities in a busy support environment
- A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of issues through to resolution
- A team-oriented mindset and willingness to support the wider service function
- A genuine interest in building your technical knowledge and capability
Technical experience required
You should have hands-on experience in several of the following areas:
- Microsoft Azure
- Office 365
- Active Directory
- Backup technologies
- Windows Server
- VMware
- Intune
- HP and Dell environments
- Thin clients
- Troubleshooting 3rd party line-of-business applications such as Coins and Agress
Preferred certifications
- AZ-900
- MS-900
- AZ-104 would be advantageous
