Job Description:
Our client is a fast-growing iGaming and sports betting operator building a high-performance operation in Cape Town — and theyre serious about doing it properly.
Operating in one of the most tightly regulated gambling environments in the world, they are looking for an experienced Operations Compliance Manager to own the operational engine across sportsbook, casino, payments, compliance, and platform stability.
This is not a back-office compliance role.
This is the operational heartbeat of the business — sitting at the intersection of technology, regulation, finance, risk, and customer experience. You will be the central authority that makes sure nothing falls through the cracks and that the operation is always audit-ready.
What Youll Own
Regulatory & Compliance Operations (WCGRB-Focused)
You will take operational ownership of compliance, ensuring the sportsbook and casino run in full alignment with:

WCGRB licence conditions

Approved Internal Control Procedures (ICPs)

Responsible Gambling Programme
-
Approved Management and Service Level Agreements
You will lead operational readiness for inspections and audits, own the operational procedures that regulators actually care about, and act as the primary operational interface with the WCGRB alongside the Compliance Officer.
Platform & Technical Operations
You will own the daily operational performance of the platform:

Sportsbook engines, betting markets, and settlement processes

Casino games, RNG products, and availability
-
Wallets, payments, and transaction processing
Youll manage platform and technology partners, drive incident escalation and resolution, and ensure the platform remains stable, scalable, and transactionally sound.
Payments, Player Funds & Reconciliations
You will ensure the operational integrity of player funds:

Deposits, withdrawals, and payment provider integrations

Player fund segregation and daily reconciliations
-
Audit-ready reporting and discrepancy management

Sportsbook & Casino Operations
You will ensure betting and gaming operations are correct, compliant, and commercially sound:

Markets, odds feeds, bet settlement, and game rules

Monitoring for operational irregularities, system errors, and abuse

Ensuring players always see clear, compliant betting and game rules
Customer Support & Player Experience
You will ensure customer operations meet regulatory and commercial expectations:

SLAs are met

Disputes and complaints are resolved fairly and quickly

Responsible Gambling interventions are executed correctly
Risk, AML & Responsible Gambling Support
You will support the operational execution of:

KYC and AML workflows
-
Transaction monitoring and escalations
-
Self-exclusions, limits, time-outs, and player protection controls
Reporting & Governance
You will produce the operational reporting that executives, boards, and regulators rely on:

Platform performance and uptime

Incident management and root-cause analysis

Operational KPIs and risk registers
-
Audit and inspection readiness
Who Theyre Looking For
This role is for a senior iGaming operations professional who understands that in regulated betting, operations is the business.
You will bring:
-
5–7+ years experience in online gambling, sportsbook, or gaming operations

Proven experience working with a licensed South African bookmaker

Hands-on understanding of sportsbook and/or casino platforms
-
Strong working knowledge of South African gambling legislation
-
High operational risk awareness and forensic attention to detail

The ability to stay calm, structured, and decisive when things go wrong
Nice to Have

Direct experience dealing with the WCGRB or another provincial gambling board

Exposure to compliance, risk, audit, or regulatory functions
-
Management experience in regulated gaming or financial environments
