Job Description:

A high-growth iGaming and Sports Betting operator is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead experience design across its sportsbook and casino platforms in South Africa. This is a strategic, hands-on role for a designer who understands that great design is not decoration — it is conversion, retention, and commercial performance engineered through user-centric thinking.

The Role

As Senior UX/UI Designer, you will own the end-to-end experience across sportsbook and casino products — from concept to high-fidelity execution. You will drive UX strategy, optimise critical conversion flows, and ensure every touchpoint reflects a premium, intuitive, and frictionless player experience tailored to the South African market.

You will work at the intersection of Product, Development, CRM, Marketing, and Compliance, ensuring design decisions are grounded in data, aligned with regulation, and commercially impactful.

Your Key Job Responsibilities as Senior UX/UI Designer will include:

UX Strategy & Experience Leadership

  • Lead UX and UI design across sportsbook and casino platforms
  • Define experience strategy aligned with business goals and user behaviour insights
  • Ensure consistent, scalable design systems across all digital touchpoints

Design Execution

  • Own wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity interface designs
  • Translate product requirements into intuitive user journeys and visually compelling interfaces
  • Maintain strong design standards across mobile and desktop environments

Conversion & Optimisation

  • Drive optimisation of key revenue-critical flows including registration, KYC, deposits, betting journeys, and withdrawals
  • Conduct usability testing, user research, and behavioural analysis to refine experiences
  • Apply conversion rate optimisation principles to reduce friction and improve engagement

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Developers, CRM, and Marketing teams to deliver seamless releases
  • Ensure design solutions align with compliance requirements and responsible gambling standards
  • Guide junior designers and contribute to evolving design processes and standards

Success Measures

  • Improved conversion across onboarding, KYC, and deposit funnels
  • Increased engagement and session duration across sportsbook and casino
  • Reduction in usability-related support queries
  • Strong design consistency across platforms
  • Positive player feedback and improved satisfaction metrics

Requirements for this Senior UX/UI Designer role:

  • 5+ years experience in UX/UI design, ideally within iGaming, fintech, or high-traffic mobile-first platforms
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex product interfaces and conversion-focused design
  • Proven experience leading UX initiatives and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated success in conversion optimisation and behavioural design

Technical Expertise

  • Expert proficiency in Figma (preferred) or Adobe XD
  • Strong understanding of design systems, prototyping, and usability testing methodologies
  • Experience working with analytics tools to inform design decisions
