About the job Agricultural Economist
We are seeking a knowledgeable and analytical Agricultural Economist to join our team. In this role, you will analyze economic and statistical data related to agricultural production, markets, policies, and sustainability. You will provide insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations that help stakeholders make informed decisions about resource use, farm management, food security, and agribusiness operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct research and analysis on agricultural markets, commodity prices, supply chains, and trade policies.

Develop economic models to forecast trends in production, demand, and pricing.

Analyze the impact of government policies, environmental factors, and global market conditions on agricultural sectors.

Prepare reports, papers, and presentations to communicate complex economic data and findings to stakeholders, including farmers, agribusiness leaders, policymakers, and investors.

Advise clients or internal teams on economic strategies to improve productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

Collect, interpret, and analyze data from multiple sources such as surveys, field studies, and government reports.

Collaborate with researchers, agronomists, and industry partners on studies and projects.

Monitor global agricultural trends, trade agreements, and emerging issues like climate change and food security.

Support grant proposals, policy development, or funding requests with data-backed insights.

Present findings at industry conferences, stakeholder meetings, or academic forums.
Requirements:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field (PhD preferred for research-focused roles).

Proven experience in economic research, modeling, and data analysis related to agriculture or agribusiness.

Strong knowledge of agricultural markets, policies, and production systems.

Proficiency with statistical and econometric software (e.g., STATA, SAS, R, or SPSS).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Familiarity with sustainability and environmental issues in agriculture is a plus.
